Welcome to 11th Grade!

We ask that you read two books this summer. Please choose one book for our Book Club and one Independent Reading book of your choice.

Independent Choice Book
For your second summer reading book, you can choose any work with your parent's permission.

1) Consider your purpose for your Independent Read. Perhaps you're planning to take the AP English exams your junior and senior year. If so, your might want to challenge yourself to a classic. Maybe you're learning English as a second language. If so, you might pick a young adult series to help you build your vocabulary. Maybe you enjoy reading fiction, but our memoir book club is all nonfiction. This would be a great chance for you to branch out and diversify your book choices.

2) Not all titles are appropriate for all readers. Parents should help students pick books that fall in their range of interests and are developmentally appropriate (these lists are suggestions for multiple grade levels).

Check out this list of Most Frequently Cited Books in the AP Literature Exam or this list of Books Every High School Student Should Read.
